It’s all change at Plaxtol School as we welcome our first new Headteacher in 15 years, Ms Lisa Mansfield. Ms Mansfield has extensive experience in teaching and senior management of schools across all age ranges in both the mainstream sector and special education needs.
She is delighted and excited to be taking up her new post and changes and improvements have already begun at school, with a new roof on Class 4, new security measures in place around the grounds and an updated school logo featuring the Plaxtol Minerva. Ms Mansfield says “I was drawn to Plaxtol School as I wish to work in a small community based school where I can get to know all the parents and pupils personally. Knowing each individual child and their family plays an extremely important role in helping a child achieve their best.” She is looking forward to working in partnership with parents to continue to provide a safe and caring environment that supports and encourages children to fulfil their goals. Ms Mansfield also emphasises that she would like the school to be fully involved in the local community and looks forward to meeting those who don’t have children in school.
The school has also welcomed two new members of staff. Ms Julie Cleisham will be teaching reception children (part time) and will also be the school special educational needs co-ordinator. Ms Cleisham has spent the last 8 years teaching Reception and Year 1 children in a school in Maidstone. Mrs Bouchera Khatib takes on the role of year 5/6 teacher. She is a maths and linguistics specialist and has taught for many years in the USA, London and, for the past 10 years, in Tonbridge. Both new teachers say they are very excited to be working in such a lovely school with a strong community feel and wonderful children.
We look forward to keeping the Parish informed of the school’s activities and achievements with regular articles here and in the Herald.
There are open days planned for anyone interested in looking around the school for children starting school next September. All enquiries for admissions, either in Reception or other years are welcomed. Please contact the school on 01732 810200 or email@example.com.
