The project manager for HVMS (UK Power Networks’ sub contractors) has told me that the switch over to the new power cable scheduled for 26 August cannot go ahead because UK Power Networks has discovered a fault on their network which makes it impossible to complete the job as it currently stands.
HVMS have not been given a new date for when they can re-plan the connection works. As soon as UK Power Networks let them know when the fault has been sorted, HVMS will then need to apply to Kent County Council to have the road closed for a short period of time whilst they complete the switch over.
What this means in the short term is that The Street will be completely re-opened as of 26 August with the removal of the road closure signs. More details to follow once received.
