The Plaxtol Gardener The following statement was released by Plaxtol Living Off The Soil (PLOTS).

" Due to the ill-feeling which we feel was caused due to lack of information offered to Plaxtol residents by the Parish Council P.L.O.T.S. feel unable to now use the piece of land offered which is currently used for football etc.

We would request that the Parish Council now look for another site for us and would ask whether a different area of the Spoute Rec. has been considered.

Since our members have already invested financially in their allotment as regards plants, tools etc. we would urge the Parish Council to give this urgent consideration.

We would like it to be publicised that the land was offered by the PC and not requested by P.L.O.T.S. and that we are withdrawing from that area because we only want to grow veg. and not engage in a fight or cause ill-feeling."

The Plaxtol Gardener Once again it is that time of year when many people like to go into their gardens and enjoy the warm weather. For lots of us, it's a chance to sort out all the gardening jobs.

Unfortunately it is also a popular time for criminals to take an interest in your garden. There is a ready market for all the expensive garden tools and equipment you own. Thieves know this and are only too happy to relieve you of these items.

The Plaxtol Gardener

In the July edition of the Plaxtol Herald the Parish Council published advice about hedge cutting with power tools during the nesting season. Parishioners questioned the sources used and the links are below.

Wildlife and Countryside act 1981

RSPB - Hedgerows

RSPB - Hedge Triming

If a hedge needs trimming between March and July then please use hand shears selectively and check for nesting birds first. It is generally accepted that power tools can be used between August and February but please do look at the RSPB links above and consider adopting their recommendations.
