The 2008 Plaxtol Music Festival has got off to a superb start with a sold out concert on January 26th. Offically opened by Councillor Chris Smith, Deputy Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, the Plaxtol Scholars and Plaxtol Chamber Players gave well received performances of Bach's Magnificat in D, Haydn's Little Organ Mass and Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no.3.The next concert, a jazz concert in Plaxtol Memorial Hall given by 78 rpm, is now sold out.
Further concerts include a recital by the renowned chamber choir, The King's School Crypt Choir, fresh from their USA tour on April 26th, a recital by the Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales, Claire Jones, on May 31st, a percussion workshop and recital over dinner on June 27th, and a recital by the emninent cellist Julian Lloyd Webber on September 13th.
